Zuni Antler Warrior Maden Fetish with Turquoise, Jet and Coral by Claudia Peina
2 3/4" h
Heavily inlaid with turquoise, coral and jet settings. With antler shield and silver spear. Hair shows one side in the Butterfly Whirl while the other side is down. Legend has it that the Warrior Maiden was putting her hair up when she heard her village being attacked. She immediately answered the call before finishing her hair.
Approximately fifteen years ago, Claudia Peina learned how to carve bears from her late brother, Colvin Peina. Her talents were obvious. It was a matter of continuing to develop her skills over the years and experimenting with different materials that have led her to be recognized as a foremost Zuni carver.
