This 4 1/4" long by 1 1/2" high Picasso marble Mountain Lion fetish carving with bundle is by Navajo carver Eddie Begay. The Mountain Lion is the North animal on both the hunting and protective prayer wheels and the elder brother of both groups of fetishes. It is carried as a prey fetish when hunting big game such as deer, elk, or buffalo, to ensure a good hunt. The Mountain Lion is also known as the traveler's protector, similar to St Christopher. The bundle which includes a mother of pearl arrow head, serves as an offering that empowers the fetish to better aid the user.  The piece, purchased directly from the carver, is signed on the bottom, and his bio, material used, and significance of the piece are included with purchase.
