Native American Totem - Ax Head, Hand carved, natural stone

Native American AX HEAD Totem. hand carved
Made of Serpentine Stone, approximately 36 mm in length by 29 mm wide by 6 mm thick; it is shaped as an ax head with a sharpened edge.  I acquired this from an estate collection in Arizona. The index card which was with it said the Native Americans used this as a totem for it's potent spirituality powers.  It is said to rest dormant like a coiled snake, at the base of the spine, like a serpent (which is where the name Serpentine, comes from). It is believed that the Serpentine rock can help arouse or activate this energy (like a snake) through various physical and other practices. This will then give the possessor awareness and out-of-the-world experiences. It is believed that the green Serpentine stone does this by clearing the blockages allowing the energy to uncoil.  There is much more, but this is basically the gist of it. This is considered by ancient Native Americans to be essential to bring harmony with the spiritual world. This ax head totem is in super condition and was a prized and meaningful artifact.
