Alaskan Whale Song Totem Pole Hand Carved Signed by Artist
    12 inches tall
Totem pole is artist signed and hand carved from yellow cedar in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Totem includes a story card describing the legends that they represent.
Sea Woman sat with whale as her fisherman lover set off to sea. The days were slow and the nights were cold without her fisherman companion beside her. As each day went by Sea Woman returned to the spot her lover had sailed from, and she began to sing. Her song attracted the Traveler of the Sea, Orca. He would accompany her and sing with her in hopes of the Fisherman returning back. Soon Thunderbird, the Messenger of the Sea heard her cries and began to learn her song. After Sea Woman left, Orca and Thunderbird traveled out into the depths of the ocean and found her lover. He too had missed his home, his lover, and his family. Thunderbird began to sing Sea Woman's song and a bright smile fell upon his face. He began to sing and somewhere far away, Sea Woman felt his song. This Totem is a familiar love story and symbolizes communication and unity between woman and man. It offers reassurance and Hope.
